Re: Jon/Aegon in the books
Is that it? "Aegon… What better name for a King" That just sounds like he's chosen the name himself. Presumably after Aegon the Conqueror. They weren't all good kings, were they, the Aegons? Especially this one . Well, it doesn't matter what WE believe, it only matters what Rhaegar believed even if...

Re: Jon/Aegon in the books
In A Clash of Kings, the gist of part of Dany's vision in The House of The Undying: a man who looks like Viserys, but taller and with darker eyes, who says to a woman nursing a baby, "Aegon… What better name for a King… He is the Prince that was Promised, and his is the song of ice and fire"; and wh...

Re: Being content with your favorite character's death
I did think that Littlefinger could last all the way to the end, maybe being on the brink of achieving his goal only to have it snatched away from him at the last (maybe by having his head ripped by a wight and becoming Undead!Littlefinger). In a way that almost happened just much sooner than I exp...

Re: Theories, Wild Theories, & General Lunacy
It doesn't have to be Christian heaven/hell, it could just as well be Hindu or Buddhist rebirth; Hinduism even works better as it is polytheistic - but I'm just putting it as an "out there" idea in the spirit of "general lunacy"!.

Re: Theories, Wild Theories, & General Lunacy
Melisandre: There is only one hell... the one we live in now. So what if this is not a real physical world, and all the people in it are just souls in purgatory trapped there? In Westeros the "Long Night" is the manifestation of a great "Day of Reckoning" whereby all the worthy souls (those who fig...

Re: What else is in your "Fantasy Library"?
Chronicles of Narnia - It's not really a typical "fantasy" per se, and obviously it's more of a kid's series. I wouldn't say the books aren't for adults though, plenty of people read them as adults anyway and there are themes which are probably easier to pick up on when older. Outside of Fantasy I ...

Re: Curmudgeon comments
How does a raven find a commander that’s hundreds of miles from his home castle? To be honest, I've got no clue. But I do know that messenger pigeons were a real thing in real history, and somehow they made those work. You also mentioned that they've been stuck in the same technological age for 900...

What else is in your "Fantasy Library"?
...assuming that you have the ASOIAF books, but if not have/have not - have you ever delved into the Fantasy genre before the show appeared or since? I started reading fantasy in the late 80s, starting with 'Lord of the Rings' but only after a lot of pressure from friends and colleagues. I enjoyed i...
