Well, "Pedantic Twit" could be my name, given how often I'm called that....Not Littlefinger wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2017 2:20 pmI know that "protagonist" isn't always "hero" or "favorite character" though I admit I was using the phrase rather loosely. Thanks for sharing that info and clearing it up though!

Re: Wight animated by fire
I didn't realise Beric was a wight. I thought he was still alive minus some physical problems. Does that mean Jon is also a wight by fire? In the show I think he certainly is alive. No. Beric is like this because of how many times he's been killed and revived. In Beric's own words, he has noticed t...

Re: Dany - Villain? Savior? Something else?
The "hero" thing can get tricky! The strictest definition of "Hero" requires that the good-guy die in the end as a result of his/her death. This comes up sometimes when people discuss Greek stories, as there are no true female heroes: the closest one dies temporarily, but then basically has her hero...

Re: S07E03 - Queen's Justice - predictions
I would think dany still has plenty of ships and just the ones from the iron fleet got wrecked ,the unsullied are sailing on casterly rock and I assume the dothraki are still cabined up off shore on the rest of her fleet Fleets always are broken into subunits (squadrons and flotillas), just as armi...

Re: Dany - Villain? Savior? Something else?
I just assumed NLF meant hero. Ah! Agreed, she's not a hero. Daenerys can be heroic, as can Jon: but heroes really reflect a very different basic type of storytelling. (Harry Potter was a "heroic" protagonist, too: but they are "heroic" in the same way you or I would be if we saved a kitten or some...

Re: Dany - Villain? Savior? Something else?
I don't hate Dany. I don't think she's an antagonist. But, I also don't consider her to be a protagonist. I think that she, like most characters in the show, is a morally complex individual who thinks that their intentions are inherently the most noble and, while that might be the case, cause them ...

Re: Howland Reed?
So after last season we pretty much know that Howland Reed was not the High Sparrow. I never could get behind that theory btw. That was probably the single stupidest fan-conjecture I ever have encountered. All of the evidence for it was either: 1) so indecisive as to be meaningless (e.g., both men ...

My blushes!
GRRM himself made a reference to having hung a large wolfpack on the wall a few years back: that made me chuckle!

Re: Arya and Nymeria Scene
This was similar to the Drogon-on-the-roof scene in Season 5. Basically, it hung a big gun (or, as GRRM put it, a big wolf pack) on the wall. The audience has not seen Nymmeria in years: if they are going to do anything with Nymmeria later this season, then the Nymmeria-gun has to be rehung now. (An...

Re: Religion in Westeros
Also, I've been thinking, in Stark contrast to my own earlier view, that the 7, bc they worship anthropomorphized deities are actually just worshipping humans. True, and that also makes it more like most religions in our world. Indeed, it seems to be a sort of hybrid between Christianity (three fac...
