Re: Have I gone too far with my butt hurtedness over S6?

I'm of the opinion that series 6 was less satisfying because it introduced some elements from the books that didn't work there either. eg Sand Snakes. For me, book GOT became tedious because the world got too big and the characters too numerous when it should have been drawing to a conclusion. TV GO...

Re: Religion in Westeros

Perhaps it's like the Ian McShane character suggests, that it's the same god but with different names. They all seem to be working for the same objective.

Re: Are you rewatching before the new season?

I've finished re-watching. It's interesting to pick up any foreshadowing you may have missed. I didn't really need to re-watch series 6 though as it was still fresh in my mind.

Re: Did Sansa's Rape Scene Really Merit the Controversy?

I've been reading this debate with interest. One observation I'd make is that for speculation to be valid it has to be done within the information that the show has provided. So, if the writers go to the trouble of having Littlefinger specifically announce that he knows nothing of Ramsay, then he kn...

Re: Did Sansa's Rape Scene Really Merit the Controversy?

Most of the main characters who remain have had terrible things happen to them - Sansa, Arya, Jon, Bran, Cersei, Tyrion, Dany, Varys, Jaime- and have emerged stronger because of it. They are survivors. It's what motivates them. This is why Littlefinger marries Sansa to Ramsay. https://www.youtube.co...

Re: Did Sansa's Rape Scene Really Merit the Controversy?

At the end of season 4 Sansa was still a pawn - Littlefinger's pawn. Her newfound sense of power was an illusion. When Littlefinger persuaded Sansa to marry Ramsay all he spoke of was revenge and taking control of one's life. So what does Sansa do? Place her power in the hands of Littlefinger and Ra...

Re: Did Sansa's Rape Scene Really Merit the Controversy?

It was a rape when there was no need for it. Sansa was ready to consummate the marriage. It was sustained, deliberate cruelty, intended to degrade and humiliate. I couldn't watch the torture of Theon for the same reason. Dany was distraught at her plight and Khal Drogo was crap as a lover but he was...

Re: S7 E1 - What do you want to see?

Daenerys was referred to as "the prince that was promised" by the red priestess from Volantis. And Jon the same by Melisandre. Will Melisandre change her mind when she meets Daenerys? I'm curious to find out.

Re: Sansa? Really?

There's a lot of Sansa hate. I don't share it. She was a typical teenage girl who dreamed of romantic heroes. She was raised to be a dutiful wife and mother and would have excelled in the role. She wasn't mean or spiteful. Shallow and self-absorbed maybe, but many teenagers are. I pay no attention t...

Re: The winds of winter release date

I've given up. If it comes, it comes. At least we get some resolution from the TV show. My fear is that even when it comes out it could be several years for the next one.
