Casting the Cast Offs

This doesn't relate to leaks but I was thinking about actors who could have played some of the book characters who ended up on the floor of Messrs B&Ws' writing room so am posting this here because I don't want to spoil the books for people who might want to read them later. Regarding Princess Arianne, a few years ago in the UK some people were thinking of Angel Coulby https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Coulby or Leonora Critchlow https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenora_Crichlow though they are both in their 30s now though they look good. I thought about Vanessa Hudgens at one time. My two current suggestions are more slender than book Arianne:
Mlle Josephine Jobert (Death in Paradise) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l9HLQzsTWc
and Ms Cush Jumbo (The Good Fight) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cush_Jumbo. They are both in their early 30s though they look good.

My pick for a young Caitlyn if there was a flashback was Olivia Hallinan (Lark Rise to Candleford)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivia_Hallinan
though she's in her early 30s now though she looks young.
For a young Lysa I thought of Ria Zmitrowicz (Three Girls and Mr Selfridge) though she'd have to either colour her hair or wear a wig. She's perhaps more like a prettier version of book Lysa than a younger version of Kate Dickie (I really like Kate Dickie) spindlemagazine.com/2014/05/interview-spindle-tv-meets-ria-zmitrovicz/

Well I know that's only 3 so far. Anyone have any ideas of other people who might be suitable or maybe more book/age appropriate? I will come back to this thread periodically [hopefully].

I realised belatedly that there was something similar to this on the Westeros site [I don't lurk there very often now because it became very anti-show, though I guess folk are entitled to have opinions]. I can't say that there may not have been something in my subconscious about the Westeros thread, in all honesty I'm not sure but the suggestions are my own.

I'm not going to complain about more Jaqen in the show but I had thought of the late John Hurt as a possibility for the Kindly Man. I'm not linking anything about him because sadly he wouldn't have been an option any longer but I thought about Martin Shaw https://youtu.be/RKu2y2aPlt0
or another Martin, namely Martin Jarvis https://youtu.be/R6FrEoJ9nMQ

Another person I had thought of for the Kindly Man was James Bolam https://youtu.be/1t2ioluHYkc

A couple of Aunt Genna Lannisters:-

Felicity Kendal (clip fairly old from 6 years ago but she still looks pretty good for someone in her 60s - she's the one who DIDN'T play the Trunchbull in the film of Matilda https://youtu.be/tR0xOy1RQNE

Michele Dotrice (one of Roy's daughters) https://youtu.be/W_IUhH6L4gc

I haven't exactly been sobbing into my socks about Patchface being cut but thinking about an actor who has played crazy (sometimes evil crazy - I know Patchface wasn't evil) I wondered about American-Canadian actor Pablo Schreiber. He played a crazy rapist in Law and Order SVU and the leprechaun in American Gods. In this clip he is just talking - he's very tall (I can't remember how tall - or not - Patchface was in the books).

I suggested her as an alternative Lyanna I think but what about Emma Appleton (on the right of the group of 4 girls at about 1:07 from Clique) for Jeyne Poole. She might be a bit more beautiful than book Jeyne https://vimeo.com › Linden Staub › Videos For some reason the link defaults back to the home page and not the specific link so here is a link to some photographs of EA https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/photos/emma-appleton

Show Lyanna was in this series as well.

I mentioned Three Girls before - it was a bleak story but although he didn't play a nice character I thought the actor who played "Daddy" in that drama might suit the part of Strong Belwas if they had cast that character. https://youtu.be/UK6Jc9Jsl7A - quite early on in the clip, the one who tells the girl she is beautiful. His name is Simon Nagra. He has been in a lot of TV shows (not always playing nasty people) in supporting roles but is not really a household name - one of those people whose face one might recognise without knowing the name. His most recent part appears to be Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night

In the run-up to season 5, before it became evident that some of the Mereen plot of ADWD had been excised in the jump from book(s) to show but previously I had thought of Josette Simon as a possibility for the Green Grace. This clip is from 2014, so not right bang up to date. Ms Simon was in a British sci-fi series Blake 7 in the 1980s. Not great TV but not totally terrible either. She's done a lot of stage work. She was in one episode of Merlin if memory serves me well but she played a character where she was sort of greyed out - like Andy Serkis's (Serkis'? - that dratted apostrophe!) in LoTR. https://youtu.be/UeFnXyCmJro

If the show had done Jamie's dream (the one where he is watching over Tywin's body) where he sees his dead mother....some suggestions for Joanna Lannister:-

Emilia Fox https://youtu.be/BuN_sRjdvVg

Hermione Norris: https://youtu.be/_mU14KeCXFo

Samantha Womack: https://youtu.be/gkjY_SzoNS8

Nobody else seems to want to play this game. I hope I didn't put anyone off by disagreeing with some peoples' Lyanna Stark suggestions.

Will Mellor for Garlan Tyrell (in this clip at about 0.56) from Merlin so some time ago. https://youtu.be/iPxq3myiQF0
