Thanks for your reply, Chilli. This may have been mentioned before but on BBC's Atlantis Mark Addy played Hercules https://youtu.be/qDbvacvPKPk I'm too old to look at men and go "Phoar!" but if I was young enough I would probably do so for the Kevin Sorbo version of Hercules though. Paul Kaye was in a series of shorts called "Common Ground" https://youtu.be/MUNUERVrmkg - though I was looking for something of him in a docudrama called "Three Girls" but no luck so far.

Conleth Hill playing a titled gentleman in "Suits". I'd like to find something where he uses his natural Irish accent but no luck so far. https://youtu.be/Xg6NKTBIDs4
Conleth Hill played the brother of Irish comedian Dave Allen in the biographical drama "Dave Allen At Peace".
Dave Allen was played by none other than Aidan Gillen.
Ian McElhinney was also in it.

Thanks for the info Grandmaster. By the way I did belatedly thank you for answering my question on whether it was worth reading AFFC and ADWD as a tandem read. Continuing to play characters a bit younger than her calendar age, Kerry Ingram has been in a (for children) show about kids and horses called Free Rein. Not an expert on horses myself but some people who are say the programme is not totally accurate about riding etc. but I guess if it is taken as an enjoyable show for youngsters it is okay. https://youtu.be/m4_vYgng1MM

People may already know that I hated The Mentalist with all my heart but I hate him even more now for treating Prince Oberon badly! https://youtu.be/yDWwKadqs48

It's reasonably well known that Wilko Johnson (Ilyn Payne) left GoT because he had cancer. He had some radical surgery but I think he wanted to concentrate on his music rather than acting because his health was still not 100%. (He was quite well known as a rock type musician in the UK before GoT). Here is a clip of him singing and playing though I think he is more of a player than a singer. https://youtu.be/oe4PS0G7Cm4

Ciaran Hinds (Mance) has been in loads of things - I couldn't find him in Catherine Cookson's The Man Who Cried - could only find a different story with a similar name with Johnny Depp. Anyway, a clip of CH as Captain Wentworth in Jane Austen's Persuasion https://youtu.be/NYSzac4mccA and another in the trailer to Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridgehttps://youtu.be/j0rfoajiQ5o Jodhi May (Maggy the Frog) was in the same adaptation https://youtu.be/yx1fVzrQhNg David Bradley (Walder Frey) and Clive Russell (Blackfish) were in the same dramatisation but I can't find anything with them.

I don't actually have a clip this time but on a history site I sometimes visit a lady had mentioned watching the 1971 film Mary Queen of Scots. I'm old enough to have seen that in the cinema. Anyway, the lady said the film was well acted apart from Timothy Dalton's "over the top" Lord Darnley. TD was good-looking in his younger days but "over the top" is sort of what he does. I think the whole cast were "over the top" in that horror thing he was in a few years back. He played a sort of Alan Quartermaine* type in that. But anyway, I found an upload on YouTube of the 1984 adaptation of R L Stevenson's Master of Ballantrae. A young Michael York is in it and Richard Durie (John-Boy in The Waltons and more recently as a character in The Americans) played brothers. TD was there as a colonel and Brian Blessed played a pirate but credited only as "horseman" is Lord Commander Mormont himself, James Cosmo.

* There was a British personality Kenneth Horne - he was sort of the straight man in a couple of 1960s radio comedy series that were named for him firstly Beyond our Ken and secondly Round the Horne. I actually preferred the first show - I can't remember which one it was in but there was a send-up of King Solomon's Mines with a character called Alan Waterbrain so Alan Quartermaine is forever Alan Waterbrain to me now. It didn't help that I was forced to study King Solomon's Mines at school and I loathed it - it was a boys' book I thought, though to be fair some girls liked it.

This isn't so much seeing a GoT actor in something else but kicking myself because I missed one in a recent Birmingham Repertory Theatre production. I'm something of a whodunnit addict and the theatre was showing a dramatisation of an Ian Rankin "Rebus" story Long Shadows but it finished on 6th October. I didn't recognise the name of the actor playing Rebus (that doesn't mean I've never seen him in anything - not every actor is a household name). However, "Cafferty", who if I remember correctly was the baddy, was played by John Stahl or Lord Rickard Karstark mark II. The show will be touring so I'll have to take a look where the production will be visiting to see if there is anywhere near enough for me to watch it. I'm not that much of a culture vulture but there is a broadcast of King Lear from the National Theatre (Ian McKellan is in the titular part) on 31st October. But about the Rebus play at Birmingham https://www.birmingham-rep.co.uk/whats- ... hadows.htm

I don't live in Birmingham but if there was an afternoon showing of the play I might have been able to get back to my hometown while public transport was still running. I have overnighted at Birmingham New Street Station some years ago and it's not necessarily something I want to repeat.
