Straight to it -

Returning to Winterfell, Jon meets Bran who eventually tells him of his true Stark/Targaryen blood line.

At Jon's next visit to Dragonstone, he confides in Tyrion - Tyrion tells Jon he must inform Daenerys - she has been alone for so long, link to great Northern family etc.

Jon is unsure, but he, with Tyrion pushing him, tells the tale.

Daenerys flies into a rage. She sees Jon wanted her power, to rule through her via a "mythical" connection, she turns on Tyrion and asks if this was his plan all along. They are both taken to the prison.

After a day, they are brought into the courtyard. Jon is held alone in the centre by a heavy iron chain as Tyrion is held beside Daenerys. Surrounded by hundreds of watching Unsullied and Dothraki, Daenerys tells them that Jon believes his is of her blood, Dragonborn, holding the same rights as I do, to command Dragons, control the army of the Unsullied and lead the Dothraki in battle.

There is only one test - From the sky and dropping heavily into the space before Jon, lands Drogon.

Tyrion looks on as slowly his face registers understanding, then horror and turns to his Queen, but before he can speak, Daenerys commands Drogon and a violent torrent of flame engulfs Jon.

The watchers step back as the wave of brutal heat hits them. The heat and noise eventually stop, and as the flames die, Jon stands untouched. He looks up at Drogon and after a brief pause, the dragon bends his head from him to touch. The watching Unsullied and Dothraki roar in approval and praise at his strength and new power.

With a Stark as King of the North now also recognised as a Targaryen, the power of these two great and ancient houses now gives him the only true right to the Iron Throne should he want it............and Daenerys knows it.

Isn't blood magic required? Whose life will have to be sacrificed to make Jon fire-proof?

Not being burnt might prove that he is a Targaryen, but being burnt to a crisp wouldn't prove anything at all. Remember, not all Targeryens are fireproof. Viserys died from molten gold while Dany commented that "fire cannot kill a dragon." This implies that only a select number of Targaryens are fireproof. And, considering Viserys was a closer relation to Dany than Jon, and the fact that Viserys was a more "purebred" Targaryen, I'm not sure I like Jon's chances.

That really bothered me when they did it. A wood fire is approximately 1100F and a dung fire around 640F. Gold melts at 1948F. My theory is that it wasn't gold at all but caramel and Viserys died of sugar shock. Just sayin'.

I read an interesting article about that, though I can't remember where I found it. Basically, it explained that, while pure gold wouldn't melt at that temperature, there are many gold compounds/alloys that would. It is easier to believe that than it is to believe that Drogo's jewelry was solid gold.

I'd be interested in seeing that article. I found this table of the melting temps of various gold alloys. And none of them are cool enough for a campfire. Besides, didn't Khal Drogo dump out the food cooking in the pot before he threw the gold in? That be a pretty hot meal that they were preparing.

Gold (Fine 24K) 1945 (F)
18K (Green) 1810 (F)
18K (Yellow) 1700 (F)
18K (White) 1730 (F)
18K (Rose) 1655 (F)
14K (Green) 1765 (F)
14K (Yellow) 1615 (F)
14K (White) 1825 (F)
14K (Rose) 1715 (F)
10K (Green) 1580 (F)
10K (Yellow) 1665 (F)
10K (White) 1975 (F)
10K (Rose) 1760 (F)

I think that for now, I'm going to stick to my caramel theory. 8-)
