With no males left in Sam's family to claim it, and since the show made a point in showing us the sword and Sam snitching it, it seems clear that somebody will use it in the fight against the White Walkers.
So who you think would be? I'm discarding Sam, he'll never be a warrior. No Sansa, Davos or Tyrion either for the very same reasons. Arya lacks the strenght and the training to use adequately a bastard sword.
Jon has Longclaw, Brienne, Oathkeeper, Jaime, Widow's Wail. Gendry has no use for swords. Grey Worm favors spear and short swords. He probably never trained the westeroosi swordfighting style ayway.
Beric and Thoros have their own flaming swords. I guess they wouldn't be unhappy to switch to a Valeryan steel one, but I think they are not long for this world anyway.
So, the way I see it, the more likely contenders would be in decreasing order: Jorah, the Hound, Tormund, Theon, Pod and Dolourous Edd. Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen, or offer new contenders if you will.
Who will wield Heartsbane?

Good question! The Hound because he always wanted some of that Valarian steel! But the others in the list would be good too. Jorah would be my next choice. Both Sandor and Jorah know how to fight with a sword. Doesn't Tormund fight with an ax? Theon is a good archer, Pod's training with Brienne could put him a good position for it, and Edd, why not! Maybe Jon gives Long Claw back to Jorah and takes Heartbane for himself? We'll see, but a good question to think about.

YES, great suggestion but I still hope it is the Hound.
Yeah, I realized I left Bronn out of the list after the post but I was feeling too lazy to edit the comment. Anyway, I think Bronn would have a look at the army of the dead and say: "Keep your fancy sword. Forget bride and castle. I'm outta here!"
