Re: Jon's big reveal
As a wise man once said, this show is at it's best when two or three characters have an in-depth conversation. Jon's Big Reveal provides a perfect reason for multiple such conversations, and I hope the writers make the most of these delightful opportunities.

Re: Being content with your favorite character's death
Littlefinger was always one of my favorite characters in the show, in part because of Aiden Gillen's amazing performance. He radiated insincerity with every gesture, yet always sounded like he earnestly believed every last utterance his mouth made. While I agree with the narrative closure -- Littlef...

Re: 'Catspaw Dagger' Importance?
A possible motive could be to start a war between lion and wolf But sending an assassin to murder Bran in his comatose state would tend away from this. If Bran awakens and says, "Jaime pushed me from the tower window," that would start such a war right there. Maybe Varys was indeed the hand behind ...

Re: Gendry theory
Azor Ahai got his sword by skewering his girlfriend: neither dragonglass nor obsidian are part of the story. The "missing ingredient" for Valyrian steel has been in the old stories all the while: it's human sacrifice. Not necessarily; it could be her blood that did it, and we've already seen a Red ...

Re: Cersie's demise
To fulfill Maggie's prophecy, Cersei cannot give birth to another child. Therefore, if the prophecy is valid, Cersei must either miscarry or die trying to give birth (or both). If D&D have kept the idea (without having Maggie say it in the show) that her "Valonquar" will kill her, and "Valonquar" me...

Re: 'Catspaw Dagger' Importance?
If nothing else, it's a way of getting a Valyrian steel weapon into the hands of first Arya and now Sansa, just before they really, really need such a weapon. ;) Let's recall a key point of misdirection from the pilot. When we first meet the Siblings From Hell, they're conversing in the Throne Room ...

Re: How would you have improved the Dorne story line in both show and books?
The Dorne story line never worked well because the very concept of Dorne fit poorly into Westeros. GRRM got the idea from the Welsh Marches, and of the Cornish being alien to the English in Britain, but Tolkien Himself laid down the rule: your kingdom is a fantasy version of medieval Britain, not me...

Re: Arya Scene
Thanks to the admirable work done by our gracious hosts here at Watchers on the Wall, I was able to participate in many off-season dialogs and yet remain UnSpoiled. My reward arrived with the first minute of the new season. At the cold open, my spouse and I first wondered if we were seeing a flashba...

"She's never going to be a mad queen."
Her father's turn to insanity was also a surprise. The Targaryens have been genetically damaged by centuries of inbreeding. There's no way to ensure the same sudden descent into insanity does not happen to her.
