Re: Being content with your favorite character's death

Can't say I was much of a Littlefinger fan but I won't be surprised to see his face again.

Re: What does an Ice Dragon breathe?

Fondly remembering the breath of our carnivorous dogs in my childhood and trying to imagine how bad a dead, carnivorous, reptile's breath might be, how about an alternate theory: Dead Viserion breathes the world's foulest breath on the opposing soldiery. Half immediately drop to the ground with tear...

Zombie apocalypse?

(Assuming that the Night's King makes it south of the wall) We've seen the WW raise the dead that are no more than skeletons. And there hasn't been any talk of the people of Westeros customarily burning their dead. Are we going to see all the Westerosi dead from the last hundred years or so climbing...

Re: What does an Ice Dragon breathe?

Since normal dragon breath is hot enough to melt stone (Harrenhall), it wouldn't surprise me if ice dragon breath was cold enough to freeze things solid - like a blast of liquid nitrogen.

Re: What should I watch between Seasons 7 and 8?

(Just noticed this thread) I'd recommend: The Last Kingdom - very GoT but without magic Marco Polo - more about Kublai than Marco. Grand vistas, politics, battles The Expanse - GoT in space - politics, battles, "magical" mystery Vikings - actually I've only seen one episode so far, but so far, so go...

So what do you do with a boatload of obsidian?

Make weapons, right? Thing is, Real World obsidian is pretty brittle and takes skill to work. So in GoT, you could take a batch, melt it down and pour it into arrowhead molds or maybe short daggers. That would work. Something as long as a sword should be too fragile to be effective, tho. Again, in t...

Re: Gendry theory

All this pre-supposes that the smith was brought in to specifically work Valyrian steel. It could easily be that the mastersmith was brought in earlier to make pretty lions on Lannister armor (or dragons on Targ armor) and his additional ability wasn't important until Tywin remembered it.

Re: Gendry theory

It was a wedding gift for his grandson, the King, and also a huge trophy of defeat over the Starks. I can see every reason why Tywin would bear any expense to do it. The only way people would continue to respect the Lannisters with their depleted gold mines is if people still BELIEVED they were ric...

Re: Gendry theory

There are three living smiths who know how to rework Valyrian steel. The finest of them was in Volantis. Came here to King's Landing at my invitation. But of course, Mott would have already been in King's Landing. However, I believe EvenWind is thinking of the books where we do indeed have "Master ...
